But its use is not so limited. People’s personal information is sold to third parties. Which uses data for ads.
These three apps collect the most data
This has been revealed in a study by cyber security company Surfshark. The study found that GrabTaxi, Yandex Go and Uber collect the most data. Indian company Ola is also not far behind and is at the sixth position in terms of data collection. Rapido’s position in this regard is comparatively fine. Rapido also collects user information through its app. But this works 10 times more than GrabTaxi.
Data provided to the ad serving company
The most shocking thing about the study is the use of this information. Vytautas Kaziukonis, CEO of Surfshark, revealed that the study included 30 ride-hailing apps. 9 of these companies use user information for third party advertising.
This information includes user’s name, address, mobile number, email etc. Some apps like Uber and Lyft also collect sensitive information like caste, sexual orientation, pregnancy, child birth information, biometric data.
